Jumpei Miwa began his career in 1999 at the Export-Import Bank of Japan before moving to Japan’s Financial Services Agency, where for 17 years he shaped policy on fintech, sustainable finance, and prudential regulation.
He acted as a seasoned international negotiator and he represented Japan in every major global standard-setting forum—BCBS, IOSCO, IAIS—and on Financial Stability Board working groups, building a system-wide perspective across banking, securities, and insurance.
In 2018 he was appointed the FSA’s first Head of the FinTech Innovation Office, and later served as Assistant Commissioner for Innovation and Sustainable Finance Policy, spearheading initiatives that bridged financial technology with long-term sustainability goals. In 2022 he founded Kunitachi Liberal Arts Inc. to bring this expertise to a broader range of clients.
Alongside his corporate work at Recruit Co. Ltd, Mr Miwa is a visiting lecturer at the Tokyo Institute of Technology’s Institute for Liberal Arts, teaching the economics of decentralized finance and finance for climate and biodiversity. His activities span management, business development, and education—all driven by a commitment to informed innovation.
