Kenichi Saito is the Managing Director and Head of Startup Acceleration Strategy Division at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG).
He began his career at MUFG in 2001, working in corporate banking and the IT Business Division. In 2009, he was assigned to Singapore, where he was responsible for building strategic partnerships with leading local banks across Southeast Asia and India.
After earning his MBA from the University of Michigan, Kenichi relocated to Silicon Valley in 2015, where he spent five years leading MUFG’s Americas startup initiatives, driving venture investments and business development. Upon returning to Japan in 2020, he spearheaded MUFG’s open innovation initiatives in the Digital Strategy Division.
From 2022 to 2026, he served as Senior Director at Sozo Ventures, where he supported U.S. startups in fundraising and business development as a venture capitalist.
In April 2026, he returned to MUFG to lead the Startup Acceleration Strategy Division, where he is responsible for advancing the group’s startup acceleration strategy and strengthening collaboration with the global innovation ecosystem.
